A Simple Favor Ending Explained
At the end of "A Simple Favor," there are many twists and reveals. First, it’s discovered that Emily isn’t dead. She fakes her death and shows up in front of Stephanie and Sean. During Stephanie’s investigation, she finds out that Emily's real name is Hope, and she was a triplet, but one sister died before birth. As teenagers, Emily and her surviving twin sister, Faith, burned down their father’s house, killing him.
After 14 years, Faith starts blackmailing Emily, which prompts Emily’s trip to Miami to drown Faith. The body identified as Emily's was Faith’s. Emily tries to frame Sean as an abusive husband who wants her dead for insurance money. She even injures herself to support her story and goes to the police. Sean gets bailed out, but Stephanie continues to work on exposing Emily. Stephanie tricks Emily into confessing her crimes by pretending to shoot Sean.
However, Emily is one step ahead and shoots Sean in the shoulder. Emily then confesses her crimes, thinking she’s safe, but Stephanie reveals that she had a hidden camera live-streaming everything to her vlog audience. Emily tries to escape but gets hit by a car and is arrested.
The story jumps forward six months. Stephanie’s vlog is very successful, and she has also started a detective agency. Emily is sentenced to 20 years in prison, where she seems to be doing fine. Sean is taking care of their son and continues his writing career.
