All Locations of Horse Guai
In Black Myth: Wukong, Horse Guai, also known as Ma Tianba, is a helpful character you meet in five different spots. To find him, search each location as you play through the game. Make sure to talk to him in every chapter before the end of Chapter Five.
Chapter One: Back Hills
From the Back Hills Shrine in Bamboo Grove, go down the steps and turn left at the pillar. Look for a small chamber entrance to find Horse Guai on a log. There’s also a meditation spot near the door.
Chapter Two: The Outskirts of Sandgate Village
Teleport to Valley of Despair in Sandgate Village. Go up the stairs on the right, find the house with a rope bridge, and go through the weak barrier. Horse Guai will be tied to a pillar in the shrine nearby.
Chapter Three: Temple Entrance
From the Temple Entrance, go up the stairs on the left side. Drop down to the house with blind monks, then go left on the upper level to find Horse Guai by a pillar.
Chapter Four: Webbed Hollow
From the Webbed Hollow Shrine, drop down the right ledge into a corridor. After passing the Centipede Guai fight, go through the torchlit passage to find Horse Guai in a large, talking cocoon.
Chapter Five: Valley Entrance
In the Valley Entrance of Furnace Valley, follow the path and go right before the gate. Pass through lava pools and find a cart with a winged guai. Clear the area, pull the string, and talk to Horse Guai. If he’s unavailable, return after defeating the Keeper of Flaming Mountains boss.
Ways to Access the Dark Thunder Transformation
- Complete the Horse Guai Quest: Finish the quest to use the Horse Guai’s weapon and perform the Dark Thunder Spell.
- Dark Thunder Transformation: This lets you turn into Horse Guai during battle. You become immune to Thunder Damage and can cause Thunder Bane to enemies.
- Light Attack: Lightning Lashes—use your whip to strike in front of you. It has a long reach, great for attacking from a distance.
- Heavy Attack: Thunderbolt Sweep—a powerful close-range attack that hits multiple enemies at once.
- Lightning Infusion: With enough Focus, raise your whip to the sky. This boosts your attack power and makes your attacks stronger with extra lightning strikes.
- Range and Ease: Dark Thunder is not as strong as other spells but offers good range and powerful attacks, especially in the Thrilled State.
