Game launch date in PS Plus Catalog
The game director Jaeho Hwang from Sony announced that the Dave the Diver game will be available on the PlayStation Plus game catalog at its launch on April 16, 2024. The game was first available in early access on PC, then had a full release and also came out on Nintendo Switch. It became very popular and got high ratings in 2023.
What are the versions of the game that can be accessed?
The PS5 version supports the vibration function and triggers the effect with the DualSense wireless controller. For the PS4 version, it supports vibration with the Dualshock 4 controller. Both versions can be played by one player, and remote play is also supported.
Newly Added Mini Game
In the PS version, Dave the Drivers has added 4 new mini-games, such as a cooking game, seahorse racing, photographs, and duff rhythm games. Dave the Diver is a special game where you explore the ocean and manage a sushi restaurant. The game has a main loop of playing, a story, interesting characters, and fun mini-games.
At first, we started with a simple idea: a game where you dive into a deep blue hole full of fish. These fish were both enemies and things you could collect. At first, the game was mostly about catching fish and trading them for money. But then, we thought of adding something more exciting.
That's when we came up with the idea of running a sushi restaurant. Players could use the fish they caught to make tasty sushi dishes. This addition made the game even more fun. But we didn't stop there. We also added unique characters and side stories to keep the game exciting and prevent it from getting boring. This made Dave the Diver a really special and enjoyable experience.
Cooking Mini Game
In Dave the Diver, you start by making and serving yummy dishes in a busy sushi restaurant. Then, you join a cooking contest, adding more fun to the game. It's not just about serving food anymore—it's about cooking and competing, which makes the game even more exciting and fits well with its main theme.
Racing of Seahorse
In the middle of the game, players find a new mini-game where they can make seahorses race in the village. There are different seahorses with special abilities hidden in the Blue Hole. Collecting and racing these seahorses makes the game more exciting.
Photographs
In the deep Blue Hole ocean, there are a lot of different fish living peacefully together. Some fish are friendly, while others can be a bit aggressive. Now, players can take pictures of these fish without fighting them. This is a calm activity where you can earn rewards by taking good photos and showing them to Udo, the photographer. You can even try taking pictures of fish that only come out at night! It's a fun way to explore the underwater world without having to catch or fight any fish.
Duff Rhythm
This surprising twist adds a lot of fun to the game! You might wonder why there's a rhythm game with an anime song in a diving game. Well, one of the characters, Duff, really loves a made-up anime called Star Stella. He goes on a musical adventure to a dream concert with characters from the anime. We added this mini-game to give the game more excitement and keep it interesting. It's a colorful addition that makes the game more lively and enjoyable.
