Fallout Showrunners Tease Season 2 Plans
Fallout has debuted to positive reviews on Prime Video, and the show's creators are already hinting at Season 2 and future plans as they continue to expand on the game's lore.
The first reviews for Prime Video’s Fallout are in, and they’re good news for the show’s future. It’s already getting rave reviews from critics, and it’s easy to see why. From the trailers alone, Fallout looks like it’s going to live up to its video game roots. Now that it’s got a head start, Fallout’s showrunners have a lot to work with in terms of characters and an ever-expanding world. Some of Fallout’s producers are already hinting at Season 2 plans in an interview. Executive producer Jonathan Nolan told The Direct that they’ve even talked about the project’s future while they were working on the pilot season.
Showrunners Of Fallout Hint At What's In Store For Season 2
If Amazon gives Season 2 the green light like they did for Vault Boy Season 1, the show’s writers and producers are ready to get to work. In a chat with Popverse ahead of the season’s release, co-creator Genndy Wigner and co-showrunner Graham Wagner said they’ve already begun planning the next chapter in the story of the Vault Dweller, Lucy MacLean.
“We don’t have a guaranteed second season yet,” she said. “But we’re very hopeful and we would absolutely love to get to bring more of the mythology to the screen. We have our plans for [Fallout Season 2], if we’re lucky enough to do so.” In the same interview, Robertson-Dworet also acknowledged the difficulty of distilling the Fallout video games’ sprawling canon into just eight episodes of TV. “We wanted to be sure to bring fans the deeper cuts,” she recalled.
While Prime Video’s Fallout does introduce characters and stories that are completely different from those found in the games, the creators of the show said that they’ve kept everything true to the source material.
Is Prime Video's Fallout Getting A Season 2?
While Amazon hasn't officially announced a season 2 for Fallout yet, things are looking promising. The showrunners are already cooking up ideas for a potential continuation, and the cliffhanger ending of season 1 seems to hint at future storylines. They've also expressed excitement about exploring more of the Fallout universe's rich lore. There are even talks of a multi-season story arc, suggesting a long-term vision for the show. Ultimately, the green light for season 2 depends on Amazon's decision based on viewership numbers. However, all signs point towards a possible future wasteland adventure.
Prime Video's Fallout
Prime Video's Fallout is a post-apocalyptic television series based on the popular video game franchise of the same name.
The show takes place 200 years after a nuclear war that devastated the world. The story follows a vault dweller named Vault Dweller 76 who emerges from her underground shelter into the wasteland for the first time. She must now learn to survive in this harsh new world and find her place in it.
The first season of Fallout was released on Prime Video on April 10, 2024. It received mixed reviews from critics, but it was a hit with fans of the video game franchise. The show has been praised for its visuals, its world-building, and its performances. However, some critics have found the plot to be derivative and the characters to be underdeveloped.
While Amazon has not yet officially announced a second season for Fallout, the showrunners have expressed interest in continuing the story. They have also hinted that a potential season 2 would delve deeper into the lore of the Fallout universe.
