What is Legendary Weapon in Guild Wars 2?
In Guild Wars 2, a Legendary Weapon is a powerful and rare weapon with special features. It allows you to change its stats and appearance freely, and it can be used by all your characters through the Legendary Armory. Legendary Weapons have the same high stats as Ascended Weapons but come with unique looks and effects. They are crafted in the Mystic Forge using a special precursor weapon and other rare items. Legendary Weapons are released in different generations, each tied to specific game expansions and offering unique designs.
Guild Wars 2
Guild Wars 2 is a free-to-play online role-playing game set in the fantasy world of Tyria. Developed by ArenaNet and published by NCSoft, it follows the story of a group called Destiny's Edge, who are fighting against powerful Elder Dragons that have taken over the world. The game features a dynamic event system where player actions influence the story, making it unique among multiplayer games.
Unlike traditional MMOs, Guild Wars 2 doesn't require a subscription, and it became free-to-play in 2015 after selling millions of copies. The game is known for its engaging combat system and large, persistent world.
Since its launch, Guild Wars 2 has released several major expansions—Heart of Thorns (2015), Path of Fire (2017), End of Dragons (2022), and Secrets of the Obscure (2023)—with more planned, including Janthir Wilds in 2024. The expansions add new content, regions, and challenges, with future updates planned to be released more frequently.
Guild Wars 2 Plot
In Guild Wars 2, the story takes place in the fantasy world of Tyria, 250 years after the events of the first game. The player’s character is tasked with reuniting the members of Destiny's Edge, a group of adventurers from different races who must come together to form "The Pact" to defeat an undead Elder Dragon named Zhaitan.
The world of Tyria is under threat from five powerful Elder Dragons that have awakened and caused massive destruction. These dragons have corrupted the land and its creatures, forcing different races to flee from their homelands. Humans are in decline, the Charr have reclaimed their lands, and other races like the Norn, Asura, and Sylvari are struggling to survive.
The story follows the efforts to unite these diverse races to fight against the Elder Dragons and save Tyria from their devastation.
Guild Wars 2 Gameplay
In Guild Wars 2, players create a character by choosing from five races (Humans, Charr, Asura, Norn, and Sylvari) and nine professions (classes). These professions are grouped into three armor types: light, medium, and heavy. The game doesn't have a dedicated healing class, so players must rely on a mix of skills for survival.
The gameplay involves selecting 10 skills from a larger pool, with specific slots for weapon skills, healing, utility, and an elite skill. Unlike the first Guild Wars, skills have predefined roles, which adds a strategic element to combat. The game has a level cap of 80, and players' levels are adjusted to match the environment they are in, ensuring a consistent challenge.
In Player vs. Player (PvP) modes, everyone competes at level 80, with access to most skills and items, making it fair for all players. There's also a "World vs. World" mode where large-scale battles occur in a separate persistent world.
Guild Wars 2 includes eight crafting disciplines that allow players to create items by experimenting with different ingredients. The game also features raids and Strike Missions, which are challenging endgame content that require teamwork and strategy.
