Guilty Gear Strive
Guilty Gear Strive is a fighting video game developed and published by Arc System Works. It's the seventh main game in the Guilty Gear series and the 25th game overall. The game came out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows in June 2021. It was released in Japanese arcades in July 2021 and for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in March 2023.
The game has been well-received for its graphics, gameplay, and online features. By August 2023, it had sold over 2.5 million copies.
Guilty Gear Strive aims to completely update the series. It keeps what fans love about Guilty Gear but changes many features. The game removes the Instant Kill feature that was a hallmark of the series and adds a new "Wall Break" feature. This new feature lets players change stages when they hit a combo in the corner of the arena.
Guilty Gear Strive Gameplay
"Guilty Gear Strive" offers a major reimagining of the beloved fighting game series, while staying true to its foundational elements. The game introduces several notable updates and mechanics:
Wall Break
One of the most prominent additions is the "Wall Break" feature. This mechanic allows players to break through the edges of the arena during a combo, causing the stage to transition to a new area. This not only adds variety to the gameplay but also introduces strategic depth by allowing for continued combos and different stage dynamics.
Instant Kill Removal
The game removes the Instant Kill mechanic, which had been a staple of previous Guilty Gear titles. This feature allowed players to end a match instantly with a powerful, cinematic move if certain conditions were met. While its removal shifts the focus away from flashy, game-ending moves, it aims to create a more balanced and skill-oriented experience.
Overall, "Guilty Gear Strive" blends traditional elements of the series with modern innovations to deliver a fresh and engaging fighting game experience.
