Persephone is a goddess who takes care of plants, especially grains. Her mom is Demeter, who looks after agriculture. Persephone's dad was a farmer. She got married to Hades, the ruler of the Underworld. She is the mother of Zagreus and Melinoë. People thought she was a nice and dignified queen down there.

Back Story

Persephone is Zagreus' mom, but she left the Underworld and nobody knows why. Hades, Zagreus' dad, doesn't allow anyone to talk about her. Only a few people like Nyx and Hades knew she was Zagreus' mom at first, but now everyone in the Underworld knows. The gods on Mount Olympus don't know she's Zagreus' mom. Demeter, Persephone's mom, tells Zagreus about her. She says Persephone's dad was just a normal farmer, and her name was Kore before she became Persephone. Demeter looked for her but couldn't find her. Hades doesn't want to talk about Persephone, but he says she never liked the name Kore.

Personality

Persephone is the goddess of harvest. She's Demeter's daughter, Hades' wife, and Zagreus' mom. She's known for her kindness, resilience, and courage. She grew up with a controlling mom, which made her crave freedom. She left Olympus because she couldn't stand the fights and lies there. Everyone in the Underworld loves her and misses her. She's friendly, respected, and a good leader. Persephone is resourceful and good at persuading others. She's warm and advises Zagreus. She's powerful like her mom when angry. She and Hades fell in love and had Zagreus and later a daughter named Melinoë.

Physical Characteristics

Persephone looks like a middle-aged woman with fair skin, green eyes, and pale blond hair tied with a green ribbon and lavender plants. She wears a simple dress with a green ribbon, a rope crossed on her chest and shoulders, a green shawl, and golden bracelets. On the surface, she carries a basket of vegetables. In the family portrait, she wears a longer dress with gold accents, a red and black sash, untied hair, and red and gold earrings. As the Underworld's Queen, she wears a black dress with gold stripes, a skull belt and shawl, skull shoulder decorations, more jewelry, and a crown with a skull and laurels.

Story Line in Hades

Persephone was born to a mortal farmer and her mother, Demeter. Raised in a protected environment, she grew tired of the lies and deceit among the Olympians. She fell in love with Hades, but Zeus's plan to unite them went wrong, causing chaos. As Queen of the Underworld, she ruled well but was heartbroken by Zagreus's death, leading her to leave her throne forever. Though initially mysterious in the game Hades, Zagreus's discovery of her existence drives him to flee and find her, her character was very important in the game's plot.

Story Line in Hades II

After the events of Hades, Persephone and Hades had a second child named Melinoë. A painting was made to celebrate their family, with Persephone, Zagreus, and Hades. But trouble came when the Titan Chronos broke free from Tartarus. He trapped Persephone and others in time, locking them deep in Tartarus. Hades ordered their daughter Melinoë to be taken away by Hecate to keep her safe.

About Hades 2

Hades II is a new game by Supergiant Games, where you fight and explore in a fantasy world. A follow-up to Hades (2020), Hades II focuses on Melinoë, who's Zagreus's sister, aiming to beat Chronos, the Titan of Time, with help from the Olympian Gods. The game was revealed in December 2022 and became available for early access in May 2024, starting with Windows. Supergiant intends to release it on other platforms in the future.

Hades 2 Gameplay

Hades II is a game where you explore dungeons in a roguelike style. It takes place sometime after the events of the first game and follows Melinoë, who's Zagreus's sister, in the same universe. With her mentor Hecate by her side, Melinoë seeks to defeat Chronos, the god of time. The game also brings back "God Mode," where players get stronger after each loss. A new feature, the "Mana Bar," gives players a combat resource that refills at the beginning of each battle.
