Hades 2
Hades II is a new action role-playing game made by Supergiant Games. It was first announced in December 2022 and became available in early access in May 2024. Right now, it's only for Windows computers, but Supergiant plans to release it on other systems in the future.
This game is a sequel to Hades (2020). Instead of Zagreus, the main character from the first game, Hades II focuses on Melinoë, the Princess of the Underworld and Zagreus's sister. Melinoë's goal is to defeat Chronos, the Titan of Time. She gets help from various Olympian Gods on her quest.
Hades 2 Plot
Hades II is a roguelike dungeon crawler game, just like the first Hades. It takes place sometime after the events of the original game, set in the same universe. In this sequel, the main character is Melinoë, the Princess of the Underworld and Zagreus's sister. She teams up with her mentor, Hecate, to defeat Chronos, the god of time.
The game includes a feature called "God Mode," which was in the first Hades. This mode helps players get stronger each time they fail, making it a bit easier to continue. Hades II also introduces a new feature called the "Magick Bar." This is a special resource used for powerful moves in combat. The Magick Bar refills at the beginning of every fight, giving players a fresh start each time.
Hades 2 Gameplay
In Hades, you play as Zagreus, the prince of the Underworld, trying to escape and find his mother, Persephone. The game is viewed from above, and you fight through various rooms in the Underworld. You receive help from the Olympian Gods, who give you special powers called Boons. These Boons give you different abilities, like lightning damage from Zeus or push-back effects from Poseidon.
The game has four main areas: Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium, and the Temple of Styx. You unlock new areas by beating the previous ones. Each run is different because rooms and enemies are randomly arranged. You fight through rooms, collecting rewards and healing. If your health runs out and you have no "death defiance" tokens left, you’re sent back to the House of Hades.
Between runs, you can upgrade Zagreus and interact with other characters. You can also adjust the game’s difficulty with the Pact of Punishment or use God Mode for easier progress.
