In The Sims 4, you can avoid emotional deaths by taking some simple steps. First, if your Sim is feeling very sad, it's best to wait until their sadness goes away before they start dating again. While they’re sad, you can use different strategies to help improve their mood. For example, you can work on boosting their confidence and improving their romance skills.

If your Sim is already in a relationship and there's a risk of death from a broken heart, you can help them by sending them to couples counseling. On the Cupid's Corner app, you can choose "Go to Couple's Counseling With..." for 1,000 simoleons to help fix their relationship issues.

If a Sim does experience an emotional death, the camera will focus on them, and the Grim Reaper will appear. Other Sims might try to plead for their life, but if they can't stop it, the Sim will become a ghost. As a ghost, they often have a +2 mood buff related to the emotion they died from, and other Sims nearby will also get this mood buff.

In The Sims 4, Sims can die from extreme emotions if they stay in those feelings for too long. Here are the main emotions that can lead to death:

1. Hysterical

  • Being affected by a vampire’s “Influence Emotion” power (+8) (from The Sims 4: Vampires)
  • Being around playful items or MySims trophies (+2)
  • Drinking the Essence of Playfulness from Cowplants (+2)
  • Doing lots of playful actions like telling jokes or watching funny videos (+1 to +2)

2. Mortified

A Sim with more than eight embarrassed moodlets or boosts might become Mortified and risk dying from embarrassment. This can happen from:

  • Experiencing bladder failure (+5)
  • Farting when needing to use the bathroom (+3) (from The Sims 4: Parenthood)
  • Getting rejected when flirting (+2)
  • Seeing other Sims in embarrassing situations (+1 to +2)

3. Enraged

A Sim with more than seven angry moodlets or boosts can become Enraged and risk dying from anger. Causes include:

  • Catching a spouse cheating (+3)
  • Being around angry Sims or paintings (+1 to +2)
  • Drinking the Essence of Anger from Cowplants (+2)
  • Experiencing hot-headed interactions (+2)

4. Heartbreak

A Sim can also die from a broken heart. This happens when:

  • They are rejected by romantic interests

Players will get warnings if a Sim is about to die from a broken heart.

In The Sims 4, you create and dress characters called "Sims," build their homes, and guide their daily lives. The game has a new engine that makes creating Sims and building houses better. Originally planned as an online game, it switched to single-player after issues with another game by Maxis. While it had mixed reviews at launch, it’s now very popular, with over 70 million players and many expansion packs. A new Sims game, "Project Rene," is in the works.

Another new aspect is Emotions. Sims can feel different emotions like happy, sad, or angry, based on what happens to them and their interactions with others. These emotions can change how they act and even affect their skills. Intense emotions can sometimes lead to a unique game feature where Sims might die from their feelings. The Sims 4 also has multitasking, letting Sims do multiple things at once, like chatting while cooking. This makes gameplay more interesting and dynamic.
