In "The First Descendant," your weapons are crucial alongside your character. Even with a powerful character, weak weapons mean less damage to enemies. As you play, you will collect many weapons, especially purple ones from missions and enemies, each with different abilities.

If you find a really good purple weapon, keep it in your inventory. Even as you find stronger weapons later on, you can upgrade your favourite by sacrificing higher-level weapons to level it up.

To do this:

• Go to a Workbench in places like Albion or safe zones such as Kingston and Vespers.
• Choose the option to upgrade weapon levels.
• Pick the weapon you want to upgrade.
• Select a higher-level weapon to sacrifice for the upgrade.
• Confirm the upgrade.

Unlike some games, weapons in "The First Descendant" do not level up through missions or killing enemies. You will need to farm higher-level content to find weapons to sacrifice for upgrades.

You will also need Phase Exchangers from Anais in Albion. These materials are necessary for upgrades and can be bought with Gold and Super Alloy, which you get from dismantling common and rare weapons. For upgrading Ultimate weapons, you will need rarer materials like Liquid Metal, which you earn through specific gameplay challenges.
