How to Parry in Dungeonborne?
In Dungeonborne, parrying is an important technique to defend against enemy attacks and create opportunities for counterattacks.
With a Longsword:
To parry with a longsword, you need to time your block correctly. Press the block button just before the enemy’s attack lands. When you do this right, you’ll hear a distinct clank, and your longsword will glow white. This means you’ve performed a perfect parry. After a successful parry, you can quickly launch a counterattack, which can deal a lot of damage to your opponent.
With a Shield and Sword:
There are certain differences in the parrying technique when you are using a shield and sword. First, take a defensive stance by holding down the block button. Release the button right before an enemy attack hits you. This will allow you to parry the attack effectively, negating all damage and breaking through the enemy’s defense. After parrying, you can follow up with a strong sword strike that does extra damage.
Classes that can Parry:
In Dungeonborne, certain classes are better suited for parrying. Fighters can use most weapon types except orbs and staves. Swordmasters and Death Knights are skilled at both parrying and attacking because they can use crossbows, shields, and one and two-handed swords.
Parrying Techniques in Dungeonborne
There are two main parrying techniques you should know about which is perfect parrying and standard parrying.
Perfect Parrying:
To perform a perfect parry, you need to time your block just right. Just before you are hit by an enemy's attack, press the block button. If done correctly, your weapon or shield will glow white, and you'll completely block the attack. This allows you to quickly follow up with a powerful counterattack, dealing extra damage to your enemy. Perfect parrying is the most effective way to handle incoming attacks, but it requires precise timing to master.
Standard Parrying:
If you don’t time your block perfectly, you'll execute a standard parry. This will still block the attack, but it may not fully negate the damage. You might take a small amount of chip damage, which can add up over time. Even though standard parrying isn’t as powerful as perfect parrying, it still helps you defend yourself and is useful in many situations.
