How to Redshirt in College Football 25 Dynasty Mode?

Redshirting in College Football 25 Dynasty Mode can be a smart move to make the most of your best players. Normally, a player can stay on your team for four years, but Redshirting gives them an extra year of eligibility, making them even better when they become Seniors.

Understanding the Redshirt System

Redshirting means a player doesn't play for the current season but still remains eligible for future seasons. A player can be Redshirted if they haven't been Redshirted before and have played in four or fewer games in the current season. Players who don't play more than four games automatically get a Redshirt, but you can also do it manually.

For example, if you have three senior quarterbacks with ratings of 88, 84, and 79, and you recruit a new quarterback with an 85 rating, the game will make the new recruit your backup. Instead, you can Redshirt the new recruit for a year, allowing your 84-rated senior to be the backup. This way, you can use the new recruit for a full four years after the seniors graduate.

Steps to Redshirt a Player

  • Go to the main menu in Dynasty Mode, select "Team," and then "Redshirts."
  • Hold L2/LT to cycle through your players by position (QBs, HBs, etc.).
  • Players in grey have already used their Redshirt year.
  • Move to a player in white and press X/A to Redshirt them. A small Redshirt icon will appear next to their name.
  • If you try to Redshirt a player who has played more than four games, you'll get a message saying they can't be Redshirted.

Be Careful When Redshirting Older Players

Remember, the new transfer portal feature means players can leave your team if they're unhappy. Redshirting older players can affect their willingness to stay because they won't get any playing time for that season. Junior players are usually okay with being Redshirted, but Sophomores, Freshmen, and Seniors might leave if you Redshirt them. Keep this in mind when deciding who to Redshirt.
