Follow these steps to unlock the Dark Aether Rift in MW3 Zombies Season 2:

• Complete the new Act 4 mission, "Countermeasures."
• Find and collect four new items: Drum, Pristine Mirror, Tattered MMA Gloves, and Perforated Target.
• Successfully leave the game with these items and bring them into the next match.
• Upgrade all of these items to Legendary status.
• Place each item on the correct pedestal in front of the new Dark Aether Rift portal.
• Each pedestal will have an image corresponding to the item, so make sure to match them correctly.

Once you have successfully upgraded all four items, place them on the pedestal at the top of the high threat zone where the new Tornado is located. When you've completed this important step, prepare to appear in a huge Dark Aether Rift guarded by an EMP mimic. Get ready for a fierce battle, because defeating the EMP Mimic will reward you with a prize slot containing a valuable Sigil. Use this Sigil or an older Sigil in the new Dark Aether Rift.

On August 8, 2023, Activision confirmed that operators, weapons, and cosmetic items from Modern Warfare II would carry over to Modern Warfare III. They released a blog post detailing how this carry-over would work.

The full reveal of Modern Warfare III took place on August 17, 2023, inside a Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 event. Pre-orders were also opened, offering players the ability to play the campaign up to a week early, as well as access to new operator skins and an open beta for the multiplayer mode.
