A Man in Full is not based on a true story, even though it portrays modern-day Atlanta realistically. A Man in Full takes place in Atlanta, Georgia, the capital of the Southern United States. Billionaire real estate magnate, industrialist, and philanthropist, Charlie Croker, (Jeff Daniels), is about to lose his vast real estate empire to bankruptcy. The old saying, “The higher they rise, the lower they fall,” rings true for Charlie as his business rivals and old enemies vie for control of his empire. Some familiar faces from his past, such as his former wife, Martha ( Diane Lane), appear with their own motivations.

As Charlie struggles to maintain his financial and social power, another battle is brewing that will consume the city and its people. A racially-charged trial is about to take place in Atlanta, and the city’s elite, such as Charlie, as well as the high-powered politicians and their cronies, will be caught up in the frenzy of media coverage. The strained racial tensions of the trial will have an impact on everyone’s life. The working class and the underprivileged people of Atlanta will pay the price.
