Is Comic Con Leaving San Diego? Schedule Revealed Here

Is Comic Con Leaving San Diego?

San Diego Comic-Con is a big event that many fans look forward to every year. This year’s convention, happening from July 25-28, is set to be the first regular one in five years. Last year, the event was affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike, which led many studios to cancel their panels. David Glanzer, who helps organize Comic-Con, is hopeful about this year’s event. He says, “We’ve learned to expect the unexpected, but we try to create a great show.”

This year’s Comic-Con will feature many exciting panels. Shows like “Star Trek” and “The Walking Dead” will present their upcoming seasons. “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” cast will discuss Season 2, and “The Boys” will celebrate its recent season. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry will promote “Transformers One,” and Lupita Nyong’o will be there for “The Wild Robot.”

DC Studios is not as involved this year because James Gunn is busy with other projects. However, some DC-related shows like “The Penguin” will still be featured. Marvel Studios will have two big panels: one for “Deadpool & Wolverine” and another with Marvel chief Kevin Feige talking about upcoming films.

The return of Comic-Con is important after the financial losses during the pandemic—$6.8 million in 2020 and $4.7 million in 2021. Glanzer says that while there were fewer refund requests last year, another tough year would have been too much. There are still some challenges ahead. Marvel will be featured again at Disney’s D23 Expo soon after Comic-Con. Glanzer is confident that Comic-Con will continue to be a big success.

However, there’s some worry about Comic-Con’s future in San Diego. Some local hotels have stopped offering discounted rooms for attendees. The convention’s contract with the city goes until 2026, but if things don’t improve, Comic-Con might consider moving to a different city in the future. Glanzer says, “We want to stay in San Diego, but if attendees can’t afford to stay here, we’ll have to think about other options.”

San Diego Comic Con Preview Night Hours

San Diego Comic-Con Preview Night is the first chance for fans to get a sneak peek of the event. It starts on Wednesday evening before the full convention opens. Preview Night usually runs from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. During these hours, attendees can explore the convention center, check out booths, and see some of the exhibits before the main event kicks off.

Fans use this time to get a head start on their Comic-Con experience, which includes meeting guests, buying exclusive merchandise, and enjoying early access to some activities. It’s also a great opportunity to beat the crowds and get a first look at the exciting things happening at the convention.

The Preview Night is just a warm-up for the rest of Comic-Con, which continues from Thursday to Sunday. Over these days, the convention features panels, signings, and other events that draw thousands of people. But Preview Night is special for giving fans a preview of what’s to come and a chance to start their Comic-Con adventure early.
