Lane Clyde Frost, born on October 12, 1963, was an American professional rodeo cowboy known for bull riding. He competed in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and became the World Champion bull rider in 1987. Frost made history by being the only rider to successfully ride Red Rock, the PRCA Bucking Bull of the Year in 1987. Tragically, during a ride in 1989 known as "The Last Ride," Frost suffered fatal injuries when the bull Takin' Care of Business gored him with its right horn. He passed away shortly after from his injuries at a local hospital on July 30, 1989.

Lane Frost Career
Lane Frost began his professional rodeo career in 1982 after graduating from high school. He quickly made an impact, qualifying for his first National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in 1984. By 1986, he won the NFR bull riding average title, and in 1987, at the age of 24, he became the PRCA World Champion bull rider. Frost also competed in the Rodeo '88 Challenge Cup linked with the 1988 Winter Olympics.
One notable event in 1988 was the "Challenge of the Champions," where Frost successfully rode Red Rock, a legendary bull undefeated until then, in several matches across the West.
Tragically, on July 30, 1989, during Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming, Frost sustained fatal injuries after completing a ride on a bull named Takin' Care of Business. Despite initially getting up, Frost succumbed to massive internal injuries caused when the bull pressed him against the arena floor with its horn. He was 25 years old. Frost's legacy lives on, and he is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma, near his mentor Freckles Brown.
