He became the leader of Payback, a team of superheroes that included Crimson Countess, Gunpowder, Swatto, Mindstorm, Black Noir, and the TNT Twins. However, he and the team didn't get along, and Vought decided it was time to get rid of Soldier Boy.

The team ambushed and attacked him, then handed him over to the Russians. Instead of killing him, the Russians experimented on him and eventually put him in a controlled coma.

However, Soldier Boy becomes more erratic, drinking and using drugs, and he accidentally kills many innocent people. The team later learns that Soldier Boy is Homelander’s biological father, created using his DNA by Vought.

In the final battle, The Boys fear that Soldier Boy might join forces with Homelander, but Soldier Boy rejects the idea of being a family with Homelander and his son Ryan. This means Soldier Boy has no problem with killing Ryan, which forces Butcher and the team to turn against him.

Maeve tries to fight Homelander alone but gets severely injured. When Soldier Boy starts to charge up another deadly blast, Maeve sacrifices herself by tackling him out of a window. Soldier Boy releases his blast in midair and is knocked unconscious when he hits the ground. Grace Mallory then puts Soldier Boy back into a pod to keep him contained.

Will Soldier Boy Appear in Season 4?

However, he did make a return in Gen V by appearing in one character's mind as her imaginary friend. This suggests that he could potentially have another unconventional cameo in The Boys season 4 or even return in a larger role since he is still alive somewhere.
