The Front Bar Show Journey

The show started as the Friday Front Bar in 2015 on the AFL website. Hosts Molloy and Maher previously worked together on Before the Game. In 2016, Seven Network began airing the show, with snippets posted online Friday afternoons and the full version airing after Friday night matches.

In 2017, the show changed its name to The Front Bar and became a one-hour studio program on Thursday nights, sometimes airing after Thursday night matches. In April, it moved to an earlier time slot of 8:30 PM to compete with The Footy Show on Nine Network. The Front Bar consistently outperformed The Footy Show in ratings, leading to The Footy Show's cancellation in 2019.

So far, guests have included Kevin Bartlett, Brian Taylor, and Jason Dunstall. In 2019, they had Garry Lyon, who used to host The Footy Show. In 2022, they also had Billy Brownless as a guest. Until 2022, the show was sponsored by Carlton Draught beer. In 2023, they signed a new deal with Furphy. In 2022, the show got its first Logie Awards nomination for Most Popular Panel or Current Affairs Program.
