Metaphor: Refantazio Missables

In Metaphor ReFantazio, several items and quests can be missed if you don't complete certain tasks within specific timeframes or before leaving areas you can't return to. Here’s a summary of what’s missable:

Gold Beetles

These collectibles are scattered across the world and contribute to unlocking the "All That Glitters" trophy. Some of them are missable because certain areas become inaccessible after you complete specific quests. The missable Gold Beetles are:

  • Northern Border Fort: Found behind a tree. You can't return here after the quest.
  • Port Brilehaven, Seabreeze Street: Obtained by completing the "Dental Distress" quest, which has a time limit.
  • Ancient Eldan Sanctum, Plaza of Light: Located next to a broken house. This area becomes inaccessible after the quest is completed.

Time-Limited Quests

Some sidequests given by NPCs have deadlines. If you don’t complete them before the time runs out, you’ll lose the chance to get rewards or complete the quest.

Unreturnable Areas

Certain areas in the game can only be accessed during specific quests, and once you finish the quests, you can’t go back. This means any items, collectibles (like Gold Beetles), or sidequests tied to these locations will be lost if you don’t complete them while you're there.

Make sure to listen for the beetles' chirping sounds and keep an eye on deadlines for quests to avoid missing anything important!

You play as Will, an orphan from the magic-using Elda tribe and the Prince's childhood friend. Will competes in a Royal Tournament to become the next King, traveling through Euchronia to gain support and find a way to break the Prince's curse.

The game mixes turn-based and real-time combat, similar to other Atlus games, and includes social simulation features like forming bonds with the locals and managing time-sensitive activities.

Metaphor: Refantazio Gameplay

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a mix of turn-based battles and dungeon exploration. In battles, you use elemental powers to target enemies' weaknesses, helping you defeat them quickly and gain experience points. If your character is strong enough, you can avoid full battles by defeating enemies instantly from behind.

The game features a calendar system, where you have limited time to complete activities each day, such as gathering items, leveling up, or building social connections. You need to plan carefully, as certain quests and events must be completed by specific dates.

The hard mode adds extra difficulty, requiring you to carefully manage your time, equipment, and leveling. If you make mistakes, you may have to go back to earlier save points and try again.

The game’s world is designed in a unique watercolor art style, and battles include summonable creatures called archetypes. The game also includes traditional enemies like goblins and slimes, with some creatively designed "human" enemies that look surreal and grotesque.

Metaphor: Refantazio Story

Metaphor: Refantazio is set in the fantasy kingdom of Euchronia, which mirrors the modern world. After King Hythlodaeus V is assassinated by General Louis Guiabern, chaos spreads. On the day of the king's funeral, a unique magic called the Royal Magic reawakens, and the king’s spirit announces a tournament to decide the next ruler. The protagonist, Will, is a boy from the Elda tribe, discriminated against for having forbidden magic. His mission is to lift the curse on his childhood friend, the Prince of Euchronia, who was thought to be dead.

Will, along with his fairy companion Gallica, sets out on a dangerous journey. They are joined by allies like noble Strohl, knight Heismay, and others. Together, they plan to assassinate Louis, but their plan changes when Hythlodaeus reveals the Royal Tournament, where anyone can compete to become the new king. Louis manipulates events to gain power, while Will and his group join the tournament to get close to Louis and defeat him.

They face many challenges, including corrupted humans and political plots. Will’s group uncovers ancient secrets about their world, the origins of magic, and the true nature of humans. Ultimately, Louis seeks to reshape Euchronia by turning its people into humans, believing it will end the kingdom's suffering.

In the end, the story can go four ways: Louis might destroy Euchronia, Will could join Louis and help him create a new world, Will could leave for another reality, or he could defeat Louis and become king, setting out on a new journey to restore balance.
