Minecraft Mob Vote 2024
The Minecraft Mob Vote is a community event held annually or just before major Minecraft events. During this event, players can vote for a new mob to be added to the game in a future update. The voting process has evolved over the years. Starting from 2022, players can vote through various platforms including a server on Bedrock Edition, the Minecraft Launcher, minecraft.net, and since 2023, the China Edition launcher.
Previously, the vote was conducted on the official Minecraft Twitter page during a livestream. The results of the mob vote are announced during the livestream event.
In addition to the main mob votes, there have been smaller polls like Jeb's llama vs alpaca vote and a cat vote featuring different cat skin options. These events engage the Minecraft community and allow players to have a say in the game's future content.
All Minecraft Mob Votes
For the 2024 Minecraft Mob Vote, here are the six potential new mobs:
Mushgoblin
A goblin found in mooshroom biomes. It trades different items for specific resources like coal for string, copper for bones, amethyst for glass, iron for gold ore, and netherite for enchantment books.
Capybara
This friendly creature spawns in lush caves. You can tame it with watermelon. Once tamed, it can produce capybara fur. Combine this fur with leather to craft a fur coat, which protects you from powder snow without slowing you down.
Amethyst Golem
Crafted with an amethyst block, pumpkin, and amethyst cluster, this golem can mine and place amethyst blocks, making it useful for decorating with amethyst features.
Eagle
Found in forests and plains, the eagle can be tamed with berries to sit on your shoulder. It protects you by attacking nearby mobs and players who come too close. Adding more birds like this would be exciting for Minecraft.
Lion
Spawns naturally in savanna biomes, lions travel in packs consisting of a male, female, and cubs. The male lion defends the pack, attacking if you approach or harm the cubs. Shearing the male lion's mane yields a lion mane, which you can use to craft a mask. This mask scares away hostile mobs but restricts your vision and can break easily.
Snail
Found in swamps, snails leave a slime trail behind them. You can collect this trail to make slime in a bucket or glue blocks. Slime in a bucket acts like slow-flowing water, making movement harder, while stepping on glue blocks slows you down and can trap you if you linger too long. These features could add fun and tactical elements to the game, especially for traps.
Minecraft Festival 2024
Minecraft Festival 2024 was a big announcement event that took place on October 5th. During the stream, Mojang revealed many new features coming to Minecraft in the upcoming year, including details about Minecraft 2.0 and its future developments. A new type of voting called the Ore Vote was introduced, allowing players to choose the next ore to be added to the game.
The event trailer started with Steve wearing Endium armor, jumping into the void in The End. He returned to the Overworld at night, where the sky appeared dark red with a large red moon. Steve encountered new red-colored mobs and sought refuge in a ravine leading to the Deep Dark, where unfamiliar ores were found. He discovered a Mythic portal and entered it, arriving in Whispering Woods under a cloak of darkness shaped like a giant dragon.
Additionally, it was announced that Microsoft acquired Re-Logic, hinting at future crossovers between Minecraft and Terraria. The event showcased exciting developments for Minecraft fans to look forward to in the coming updates and expansions.
New Minecraft Updates 2024
In 2024, Minecraft Festival announced a major upcoming update known as 2.0 - Chapter 2 Update, set to release in June 2025. This update is touted as the largest ever in Minecraft's history. It will introduce a new chapter of progression to the game, similar to Terraria's Hardmode, offering more challenges and content for players.
The Chapter 2 Update will feature:
- More difficult mobs and multiple new tiers of armor to enhance gameplay.
- A revamped order of Minecraft's Bosses and new Boss Drops, providing new challenges and rewards.
- The update begins after players defeat all of the Chapter 1 Bosses and a tougher Ender Dragon.
Mojang also announced a shift towards smaller, more frequent updates alongside these major releases. This strategy aims to allow more focused development time on larger updates like Chapter 2, promising exciting new adventures and features for Minecraft players to explore.
