- To play, you need a paid subscription to the New York Times Games, which costs $40 per year or can be paid monthly.
Tips for Spelling Bee
It might take some practice to understand and get used to how the Spelling Bee game works. Remembering that you can use letters more than once is a twist. You have to think about these extra possibilities in your mind rather than seeing them on the screen. Here are some tips that can help you find words:
- Look for prefixes and suffixes like re- (as in renew) or -ed (the past tense of many words, like fixed). These can be used multiple times and help you find longer words that score more points quickly.
- Look for words that can be put together. Hyphenated words aren't allowed, but sometimes one word looks like it could be two separate words, like "lifeline."
- Start by using the letter that's in the center of the hive. Then, build your words out from there. This can make it easier to find words that meet the game's rules and score well.
