In Risk of Rain 2, you start with two characters Commando and Huntress. To unlock the other characters, you need to complete certain tasks. Here is how to unlock every character:

1. Commando

9. Artificer

Unlock Requirement: Purchase from the Bazaar merchant. Collect 11 Lunar Coins. Use one to open the portal to the Bazaar Between Time, then use ten more to unlock Artificer.

10. Mercenary

Unlock Requirement: Obliterate yourself at an Obelisk (True Respite challenge).

You need to destroy your character by entering a Celestial Portal and using the Obelisk.

11. Void Fiend

Unlock Requirement: Escape the Planetarium or complete wave 50 in Simulacrum (Dragged Below challenge). Either complete the Void Fields challenges or finish wave 50 in the Simulacrum mode to unlock Void Fiend.

12. Railgunner

Unlock Requirement: Unlocked by default with the Survivors of the Void DLC.

After buying the Survivors of the Void DLC, Railgunner will be available to play.

13. The Heretic

Unlock Requirement: Equip Visions of Heresy, Hooks of Heresy, Essence of Heresy, and Strides of Heresy. Collect these four items in a run to temporarily become The Heretic. You will need to gather them again in each run to play as The Heretic.

14. Captain

Unlock Requirement: Beat the game (Washed Away challenge).

Complete the game to unlock Captain. Defeat the final boss and escape the moon.
