Stars Band
Stars, a prominent Canadian indie pop/rock band hailing from Montreal, Quebec, has been captivating audiences since their formation in 2000. Consisting of members Torquil Campbell, Amy Millan, Evan Cranley, Chris Seligman, Patrick McGee, and Chris McCarron, Stars has carved its niche with a diverse musical palette encompassing indie pop, indie rock, chamber pop, and new wave genres.
Originating from Toronto, Ontario, the band's debut album, "Nightsongs," was recorded in New York in 1999 by Torquil Campbell and Christopher Seligman. Upon transitioning to live performances, childhood friend Evan Cranley joined on bass, later bringing Amy Millan into the fold. The move to Montreal marked a significant chapter, giving rise to their acclaimed second album, "Heart," released under the Arts&Crafts label.
Notably, Stars' breakthrough came with the creation of "Set Yourself on Fire," crafted during an immersive winter retreat in the Eastern Townships. This album garnered critical acclaim and solidified their presence in Canada's indie rock scene. Over the years, Stars has displayed versatility, covering iconic songs like The Smiths' "This Charming Man" and The Pogues' "Fairytale of New York."
