The Girl Who Got Away Ending Explained

The Girl Who Got Away is a 2021 thriller movie by Michael Morrissey. In the story, a scary killer named Elizabeth Caulfield escapes from prison and starts causing trouble in a small town. Elizabeth had kidnapped five girls many years ago. Four of the girls died, but one girl named Christina Bowden managed to escape. Now, Elizabeth is out of prison, and the police are worried.

An old cop named Gerry, who worked on the case 20 years ago, feels bad because he couldn’t save the girls. He asks Jamie, a younger police officer who used to date his daughter, to help catch Elizabeth. Jamie warns Christina about Elizabeth’s escape and starts to suspect that Christina might have some secrets.

Jamie finds a videotape that shows there was a sixth girl in Elizabeth’s house. Christina tells him this sixth girl was Elizabeth’s daughter, Katie Caulfield, who was actually in charge of the kidnappings. But Jamie discovers that Katie’s dead body was found earlier that day.

In the end, Elizabeth attacks Gerry’s house and kills him and his wife. She also tries to hurt their pregnant daughter, Amy. Jamie arrives too late to save them. Christina also arrives and meets Elizabeth, who gives her Amy’s baby. Elizabeth says she did it to help Christina.

Christina thanks Elizabeth but then stabs her. Elizabeth gets up, but Jamie shoots her. When the ambulance arrives, Christina tells them her name is Katie. It turns out that Christina was really Katie all along. She had been living a double life and forced Elizabeth to kidnap girls so she could have friends her own age. In the end, Christina gets what she wants by taking Amy’s baby.
