The National Lottery EuroMillions
The National Lottery EuroMillions is a lottery game played across several European countries. To win the jackpot, you need to correctly pick 5 main numbers and 2 Lucky Star Numbers. The lottery started on February 7, 2004, and draws take place every Tuesday and Friday night in Paris.
A standard ticket costs €2.50, £2.50, or CHF 3.50. In Ireland, you can add the Plus option for an extra €1.00 per line. In France and Portugal, additional options like "My Million" and "M1lhão" increase the ticket price slightly.
The cost of playing in the UK rose from £1.50 to £2.00 in 2009, and then to £2.50 in 2016. At the same time, the number of Lucky Stars increased from 11 to 12, making it harder to win the jackpot. Prizes are tax-free, except in Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal where taxes may apply.
