Unicorn Overlord

Unicorn Overlord is a new game made by Vanillaware and released by Atlus and Sega. It came out on March 8, 2024, for different consoles like the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. The game is set in a place called Fevrith, where there's a big war happening. You play as Alain, who used to be a prince but got kicked out of his kingdom by the Zenoiran Empire, led by General Valmore.

In the game, you control Alain and his army in battles that happen in real-time. The idea for the game came from Takafumi Noma back in 2014, and he directed it too. It took around ten years to make because they were working on other projects too. The music was made by Mitsuhiro Kaneda and his team from Basiscape.

Unicorn Overlord Gameplay

In the game Unicorn Overlord, you take on the role of Alain, a prince who commands an army to battle across the region known as Fevrith. You travel the planet, stop in various cities, and prepare for fights by purchasing goods from traders. Opponents also roam the globe. The entire game is created with 2D art.

You command your armies on expansive battlefields during conflicts. A real-time battle occurs when units collide, but you can pause to plot your next move. Your party may consist of up to six characters, each of whom belongs to a different class. You begin with two characters, but honor, a kind of money, allows you to unlock more.

Whether you're fighting in broad fields or villages, the battlefield varies. Characters possess varying skills.

Unicorn Overlord Plot

The continent of Fevrith, which was formerly home to five nations made up of various peoples, including humans, elves, angels, and bestrals, is the setting for Unicorn Overlord. The renegade general Valmore seizes control of the kingdom of Cornia and proceeds to subjugate the neighboring countries, establishing the Zenoiran Empire.

The prince of Cornia, Alain, the main character, is saved from the onslaught by his bodyguard, Josef. Having grown up and acquired the enchanted Ring of the Unicorn, Alain now commands the Liberation Army with the mission of vanquishing Valmore and taking back their territories.
