What Happened to Gallagher HSR?
In Honkai Star Rai, the story leaves us wondering what happened to Gallagher. After finishing their mission, the Astral Crew finds a letter from him on the Astral Express. In the letter, Gallagher thanks the crew and says he might have gone where Mikhail went. Mikhail, another character, had died after helping the crew in a previous mission. This suggests Gallagher might also be dead. However, it's not clear if he has really died or if only his role as Gallagher is over.
Is Gallagher Dead in Honkai Star Rail?
Gallagher is likely dead in Honkai Star Rail. In his final letter, he hints that he has gone where Mikhail went, and Mikhail had died earlier. The letter also talks about life and death being part of a story, suggesting that Gallagher might have been a fictional character created to help the people of Penacony.
This means that while the character of Gallagher is gone, the person who created him could still be alive and might help the trailblazers in the future. The Page of Past Dreams, showing drawings of characters like Misha and Clockie, suggests that Gallagher might have been created by a child, possibly Mikhail. So, Gallagher's story is over, but the one who made him might still be around.
Who is Gallagher in Honkai Star Rail?
Gallagher is a mysterious and unique character in Honkai Star Rail. He calls himself a Fictionologist and uses the power of Enigmata, which is based on deception. We learn that Gallagher is a mix of all the traits from the Families in Penacony. In version 2.2, he introduces himself as the founder of the Dreamflux Reef and deputy of the Watchmaker, calling himself the History Fictionologist. He even sent the Watchmaker’s invite to the Charmony Festival.
However, Gallagher's true identity is still unclear. A popular theory is that Gallagher is a fictional entity created using the power of Enigmata. This creation might have been done by Mikhail or another person to help free Penacony from the Order’s influence. So, Gallagher might not be a real person but a character made to serve a specific purpose in the story.

Honkai: Star Rail Gameplay
Honkai: Star Rail plays classic Japanese role-playing games. Players build a team of up to four characters for turn-based combat. Each character has stats, an elemental Type for dealing damage, a combat role called a Path, and unique abilities called Traces.
Characters equip weapons known as Light Cones, which have special effects if they match the character's Path, and Relics, similar to Artifacts in Genshin Impact. The game features open-world and dungeon exploration and uses a gacha system. Players spend in-game currency, earned in-game or bought with real money, to get new characters and weapons.
