What to do before FFXIV Dawntrail Maintenance?
Before the maintenance starts for Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail expansion, there are a few things you should do to prepare. First, if you have any gardening plots, make sure to store them so your crops don’t die. The timer for crops keeps running even during maintenance.
If you own a house in the game, reset your housing timer. During the last expansion launch, many people couldn’t enter their houses because the servers were too crowded. If you want to change your character to the new female Hrothgar race, use your Fantasia item before maintenance.
You will also need to unequip all your gear to change races. Finally, log off in a sanctuary, like a town or near an Aetheryte, to gain rested EXP, which gives you a 50% experience bonus. This way, you'll be ready to jump back into the game smoothly once the maintenance is over.
Hours in FFXIV
In Final Fantasy 14, time works differently from real life. One Eorzean minute lasts about 2.9 seconds in real-time. An Eorzean hour is nearly 3 minutes. Weather changes every 8 Eorzean hours, which is about 23 real minutes. Day and night switch every 12 Eorzean hours, which is 35 real minutes.
One full Eorzean day equals 1 hour and 10 minutes in real-time. This system allows players to experience different times of day and weather in the game frequently, even if they play at the same time every day.
Eorzean Time | Real-Time |
1 minute | 2 seconds 11/12 seconds |
1 hour | 2 minutes 55 seconds |
8 hours (weather cycle) | 23 minutes 20 seconds |
12 hours (day/night cycle) | 35 minutes |
1 day | 1 hour 10 minutes |
FFXIV Game
Final Fantasy 14 is an online multiplayer game where players can explore a fantasy world called Eorzea. You create a character and choose from different races, like humans or elves, and customize their appearance. The game has a story you follow through quests, which are missions you complete to earn rewards and progress in the game.
You can also do other activities like crafting items, gathering resources, and fighting monsters. Players can team up with others to tackle tough challenges. The game is set in a magical world with beautiful graphics and music. It had a rough start when it first launched in 2010, but after some major improvements, it was re-released as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in 2013, which was well-received by players and critics.
Gameplay
In Final Fantasy 14, you control a character that you can customize with different looks and abilities. You can choose to be a fighter, a mage, a crafter, or a gatherer. As you play, you complete quests to earn experience points, which help you level up and get stronger. You can play alone or join groups to take on bigger challenges.
The game has a lot of content, like dungeons to explore, big bosses to defeat, and items to craft. The combat system requires you to actively choose your actions rather than relying on automatic attacks. You can switch your character’s class by changing their equipped weapon, which gives you flexibility in how you play.
The game also has a job system that lets you specialize in a particular role for more powerful abilities.
