When is Xerneas Coming to Pokemon Go?
Xerneas is available in Pokémon GO from August 1, 2024, at 10:00 AM local time until September 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM local time. During this period, you can encounter Xerneas in 5-star Raid Battles and have a chance to catch it. Additionally, you can encounter Xerneas by winning battles in the GO Battle League if you are Level 20 or higher. This is a limited-time opportunity, so be sure to participate in raids and battles to add Xerneas to your collection!
What is Xerneas in Pokemon Go?
Xerneas is a Fairy-type Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO. It was first introduced in Generation VI of the Pokémon series and is the mascot for Pokémon X. Xerneas is known for its unique appearance, resembling a large, stag-like creature with a blue and black coat. It has long, colorful antlers that shine in different colors during battles. When it's not active, its antlers turn cyan blue. Xerneas is part of a trio of Legendary Pokémon known as the Aura Trio, along with Yveltal and Zygarde. Its design and features, like the "X" shape in its eyes and body, connect it to the game Pokémon X.
How to Add Xerneas to Pokemon Go?
To add Xerneas to your Pokémon GO collection, you can use these two methods:
Beat Xerneas in 5-star Raid Battles
Xerneas is a Fairy-type Pokémon from the Kalos region. It is weak to Poison- and Steel-type attacks, so focus on using Pokémon with these types of moves.
Some strong Pokémon to use against Xerneas are:
- Dusk Form Necrozma (Metal Claw and Sunsteel Strike)
- Shadow Metagross (Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash)
- Shadow Excadrill (Metal Claw and Iron Head)
- Nihilego (Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb)
- Dialga (Metal Claw and Iron Head)
- Naganadel (Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb)
- Melmetal (Thunder Shock and Double Iron Bash)
Special Raid Hours for Xerneas are scheduled from 6 PM to 7 PM local time on August 21 and August 28, 2024.
Win GO Battle League Matches
When Xerneas is featured in 5-star Raid Battles, players at Level 20 or above can also encounter Xerneas by winning battles in the GO Battle League.
By participating in these raids and battles, you can add Xerneas to your Pokémon GO collection.
How to Get Shiny Xerneas in Pokemon Go?
To get Shiny Xerneas in Pokémon GO, you can use these two methods:
- Participate in 5-star Raid Battles featuring Xerneas. There is a 1-in-20 chance that the Xerneas you encounter after a raid will be a Shiny version. You may need to complete many raids to find a Shiny Xerneas.
- If you win battles in the GO Battle League while Xerneas is featured, you also have a chance to encounter a Shiny Xerneas.
By taking part in these raids and battles, you increase your chances of adding a Shiny Xerneas to your collection.
Pokemon Go
Pokémon GO is a mobile game released in 2016 that uses augmented reality (AR) to let players find, catch, and battle virtual Pokémon in the real world using their smartphones. Developed by Niantic with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, it’s free to play but offers in-app purchases. The game started with around 150 Pokémon and had grown to about 800 by 2024.
Despite some technical issues at launch, Pokémon GO became incredibly popular, promoting physical activity and boosting local businesses. However, it also faced criticism for causing accidents and public disturbances. By 2020, the game had over a billion downloads and earned more than $6 billion in revenue.
Pokemon Go Gameplay
In Pokémon Go, players create and customize their own avatars, which appear on a map based on their real-world location. The game features spots called "PokéStops" and "Gyms" where players can collect items and battle. PokéStops can attract wild Pokémon when equipped with special items, while Gyms are used for team battles.
As players move around in real life, their avatars move on the map. Different types of Pokémon are found in specific areas, like Water-type Pokémon near water. Players can see Pokémon in the real world using their device's camera through Augmented Reality (AR) mode.
The game is free to play but offers in-app purchases for items like Poké Balls. Players can level up their Pokémon using in-game rewards called Candies and Stardust, which are earned by catching Pokémon. Pokémon can also be evolved or powered up using these items.
Players can join one of three teams to compete for control of Gyms, and can participate in Raid Battles against powerful Pokémon. Community Days are special events where specific Pokémon appear more often, sometimes in shiny forms.
Pokémon Go also features battles against Team GO Rocket, where players can catch "Shadow Pokémon" and purify them to make them stronger. The game is regularly updated with new Pokémon and features, making it an ongoing adventure for players.
