The Aether Compass is now in the Collection menu instead of the Key Items menu. To make it easier to use:

  • Bind it to any key or simply click on it to activate it.

This will help you quickly use the Aether Compass without going through many menus, especially when you need to find an Aether Current.

How to Use Aether Compass in Final Fantasy XIV?

To use the Aether Compass in Final Fantasy XIV:

  • Click on the Aether Compass.
  • Flashing text will appear on your screen, showing the direction and distance to the nearest Aether Current.
  • You can use the compass while riding a mount or running.

This helps you check if you are going the right way quickly. Each zone in Dawntrail has 10 Aether Currents you can find with the compass and 5 more from quests. Find all 15 in a zone, and you will be able to fly there. Do this in all six new zones to fly everywhere until the next expansion.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is the fifth expansion for the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, set to release on July 2, 2024. Players will travel to Tural to join a contest to choose the next leader of Tulliyollal, supporting Wuk Lamat, one of the leader's daughters.

This expansion, described as a "summer vacation" for the Warrior of Light, includes new areas, an increased level cap, two new character classes, and a new playable race. It also features the game's first major graphical update since 2013. Current players can get the expansion alone, while new players can buy the updated Complete Edition.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Gameplay

The gameplay in Dawntrail is similar to the base game, where players interact in a world that changes based on their actions. Dawntrail introduces two new jobs: Viper and Pictomancer. Viper is a quick, dual-wielding class inspired by agile fighters like Zidane from Final Fantasy IX. Vipers can combine their two swords into one stronger weapon for special attacks. Pictomancer is a magic class that uses paint to cast spells, both damaging and supportive, similar to Relm Arrowny from Final Fantasy VI. Krile, a popular character, becomes a Pictomancer in this expansion.

Director Yoshida mentioned that newer classes like Viper and Pictomancer feel more complete compared to older ones. Additionally, Beastmaster will be introduced as a "Limited" job, with similar restrictions to Blue Mage, meaning it will have limitations in player matchmaking. This expansion continues to build on the engaging and interactive world of Final Fantasy XIV.
