Inside Out 2 Plot
Riley is now 13 and starting high school in San Francisco. Her emotions—Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust—have created a new part of her mind called "Sense of Self" where her core memories and personality reside. Joy invented a mechanism to push negative memories away.
Riley and her friends are going to a hockey camp. On the eve of the camp, a "Puberty Alarm" triggers changes in her mind, and new emotions—Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Anxiety—appear. They clash over how to handle Riley's experiences.
Anxiety takes control and changes Riley's personality to fit in with older players. This strains her friendships and causes chaos during a hockey game. An avalanche of bad memories leads to a panic attack.
The old emotions return, convince Anxiety to step back, and restore Riley's true self. She reconciles with her friends and embraces her evolving identity. At high school, she stays true to herself while making new friends and playing hockey. In the end, Riley feels proud of herself and her journey of self-discovery.
