Williamson was born on July 6, 2000, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Lateef Williamson and Sharonda Sampson. Lateef Williamson was a standout defensive lineman at Mayo High School in Darlington, South Carolina, earning High School All-American honors in 1993. He initially committed to NC State before transferring to Livingstone College.

Williamson was involved in various sports besides basketball, including soccer and playing quarterback in football. At the age of five, he aspired to become a college basketball star and began training rigorously, waking up at 5 a.m. each morning by the time he was nine years old.

He participated in youth leagues under the coaching of his mother, Sharonda Sampson, and played for the Sumter Falcons in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) circuit, where he often faced opponents four years his senior.
