Jon Bon Jovi was the mentor for these top three singers. The episode also had guest performances from Bon Jovi, Nick Fradiani, Jason Mraz, New Kids on the Block, Hootie & The Blowfish, Cece Winans, Wynonna Judd, James Bay, Cody Johnson, Seal, and Bishop Briggs. Former "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino also appeared and gave an inspiring message to the finalists.

American Idol 2024 Finale Recap

Here we shared every epic moment of the American Idol 2024 Finale,

Round 1

  • Will Moseley: Will started the finale confidently by singing Bon Jovi's “It’s My Life.” He chose this song right after learning Bon Jovi would be the mentor. It was a great choice, showing his determination. Will smiled throughout and added some rock moves to his performance.
  • Jack Blocker: Jack chose a lesser-known Bon Jovi song, “I’ll Be There For You,” for his first performance. He turned it into a cool country jam, surprising everyone. Jack's charming style had the audience captivated from start to finish.
  • Abi Carter: Abi's choice of "Bed of Roses" was unexpected but perfect. She played the piano confidently and gave a beautiful performance, hitting every emotional note and nailing the final high note. The audience loved it, and she was moved to tears. Then, Ryan Seacrest surprised her with a congratulatory message from Billie Eilish.

Round 2

  • Will Moseley: Will Moseley returned for the second round with Montgomery Gentry’s “My Town.” It felt like the song was made for him. As a small-town hero with great talent, Will impressed everyone with his performance. His musical skill was clear, and his homecoming segment showed his playful side.
  • Jack Blocker: Jack Blocker charmed us even more during his hometown visit, which included a performance at a Dallas Mavericks game and sweet moments with his wife. Despite the funny choice of George Strait’s “All My Exes Live in Texas” after talking about his wife, Jack gave one of his best performances. He joked about it perfectly, saying, “I don’t even have any exes!”
  • Abi Carter: Abi Carter’s hometown visit felt like a winner’s celebration. She seemed like a cool, relaxed California girl, with her town even throwing parades for her. Her performance of “Somewhere” from West Side Story was stunning and truly showcased her star quality.

Elimination

The first elimination was Jack Blocker, which surprised us since we thought he could win. He ended up in third place. Before announcing the results, Idol featured amazing duets like Julia Gagnon with Jason Mraz and Jayna Elise with Seal. Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino also returned to give encouraging words to the finalists.

Final Round

  • Will Moseley: In the last round, Will performed his debut single “Good Book Bad.” It was his most heartfelt performance yet, starting soft and becoming powerful. The song suits his country style well.
  • Abi Carter: Abi then sang her first single "This Isn’t Over," a powerful ballad that had everyone standing up. It was quite different from "What Was I Made For," the song that impressed America during her audition.

Results

  • Runner: Will Moseley
  • Winner: Abi Carter

That's how Abi Carter wins the American Idol Season 22. The latest winner of the show ended the night with an exciting performance of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For,” wrapping up the season perfectly.
