Although the game was temporarily banned in India on July 28, 2022, due to worries about data security, the ban was lifted on May 26, 2023, letting players start playing again.
Gameplay
In Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), you compete with up to 99 other players to be the last survivor in a big battle. You can play alone or with a team of up to four. The game starts with everyone parachuting onto one of seven maps. You search buildings and towns for weapons, armor, vehicles, and supplies.
The safe area on the map gets smaller over time, and if you're outside it, you take damage. Red zones randomly appear and get bombed, posing a danger to anyone inside. You can play in first-person or third-person view, each with its own advantages. The aim is to survive longer than everyone else and stay within the safe area until you're the winner. Each game lasts around 30 minutes, with lots of exciting fights and clever plans.
Development
In 2020, PUBG Mobile was banned in India along with other Chinese apps due to concerns about national security. To bring back the game, PUBG Studios and Krafton, a South Korean company, registered PUBG India Private Limited in November 2020. By May 2021, Krafton decided to launch the game under a new name, Battlegrounds Mobile India, tailored for the Indian market.
This move aimed to meet local regulations and preferences while offering gameplay similar to PUBG Mobile.
