The family of an 81-year-old woman with dementia and Alzheimer's, who had been missing for 11 days, announced that her body was found in a canal in Miramar on Wednesday evening. They have found some closure now that she has been found.
Carol Tormey was last seen 11 days ago. Her truck was also discovered in a nearby canal after a fisherman found it.
Her daughter thanked everyone for their support and shared that her mother had passed away. The family can now start to heal.
What Happened to Carol Tormey?
Carol Tormey was last seen on July 21 in Fort Lauderdale. She left her apartment around 8:30 p.m. driving a Chevrolet Colorado that she hadn't used in two years. Her family didn’t know why she left or where she was going. When they realized she was missing, they contacted the police and a Silver Alert was issued.
Tracking information showed she drove around Fort Lauderdale, went to Deerfield Beach, and then headed south to Dania Beach before ending up in Miramar. After she disappeared, her family handed out flyers and asked for help from anyone who might have seen her. Sunshine State Sonar also helped by searching waterways near Miramar Parkway for 48 hours, finding 12 submerged vehicles, but none of them were hers.
Mark Edwards, who is part of a search and recovery organization from Texas, said, "Right now, (Tormey's family is) grieving heavily, so I don’t want to speak for them, but it’s a sad time and there’s a journey of grief they’ve got to go through right now,"

Yes, Carol Tormey was found. Her body was pulled from a Miramar canal on Wednesday evening, and her truck was also discovered in a canal near Southwest 196th Avenue. Her family has received closure, and her daughter has shared the news, expressing gratitude for the support they received.
