The lineup includes Marc LaBelle on vocals, John Notto on guitar, Justin Smolian on bass, and Jaydon Bean on drums. Their debut EP, also titled Dirty Honey, was independently launched in March 2019. The track "When I'm Gone" from this EP reached the number one spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, marking Dirty Honey as the first band without a record deal to achieve this milestone. Initially known as The Shags, the band changed their name to Dirty Honey after adding Corey Coverstone on drums.
