Kevon Looney Career
On Halloween in 2013, Kevon Looney made the unexpected announcement of his decision to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), a move that surprised everyone, including his parents, as no recruiting analysts had predicted it.
However, his transition to college basketball was met with an early setback when he suffered a hip injury during the summer before his freshman season. The injury occurred when Bruins guard Isaac Hamilton accidentally fell into Looney's right leg during a gym session.
Despite needing two to three weeks of rest, Looney’s determination shone through as he did not miss a single practice or game throughout the season. Although the injury hampered his lateral movement and speed, he persevered and played a pivotal role in his freshman year, showcasing resilience and commitment to his team.
