About Dropkick Murphys
The Dropkick Murphys are a Celtic punk band from Quincy, Massachusetts, formed in 1996. Ken Casey, the singer and bassist, is the only member who has been with the band from the start. The current members also include drummer Matt Kelly, singer Al Barr, guitarist James Lynch, and multi-instrumentalists Tim Brennan and Jeff DaRosa.
The Dropkick Murphys first signed with Hellcat Records, where they released five albums and became well-known through constant touring and St. Patrick's Day shows in Boston. Their 2004 song "Tessie" was their first big hit. In 2005, they released "The Warrior's Code," which included "I'm Shipping Up to Boston," featured in the movie The Departed and became their only platinum single. The band is famous for their loud and energetic live performances.
In 2007, Dropkick Murphys started releasing music through their own label, Born & Bred. Their album "The Meanest of Times" (2007) debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard charts, while "Going Out in Style" (2011) reached No. 6. "Signed and Sealed in Blood" (2013) debuted at No. 9 and included popular songs like "The Season's Upon Us" and "Rose Tattoo." Their later albums include "11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory" (2017), "Turn Up That Dial" (2021), "This Machine Still Kills Fascists" (2022), and "Okemah Rising" (2023).
