Emmerdale is a British TV soap opera shown on ITV. It's set in a fictional village called Emmerdale, which used to be called Beckindale until 1994. The show was created by Kevin Laffan and first aired on October 16, 1972, with scenes filmed at Leeds Studios. Initially, outdoor scenes were shot in Arncliffe in Littondale, possibly named after Amerdale, an old name for Littondale. Later, filming moved to Esholt before settling in a custom-built set on the Harewood estate.
