Cody Weightman's Early Life
Cody Weightman was born in Melbourne and grew up on a farm in Pakenham. He started playing football through the Auskick program at Officer and played junior football for the Beaconsfield Eagles. At Haileybury, he captained the school's first XVIII team, coached by Matthew Lloyd. Weightman also played for the Dandenong Stingrays in the NAB League and represented Vic Country in the AFL Under 18 Championships. He stood out in the championships, kicking four goals in games against the Allies and South Australia.
He was named to the 2019 Under-18 All-Australian team after finishing as the top goal scorer with nine goals from four games. After finishing school, he played for the Bali Geckos in Indonesia. Dale Weightman's Early Life
Dale Weightman is one of six children born to Brian "Reggie" Weightman and his first wife, Maureen. Brian was a local sports star, known for his Australian rules football and cricket achievements. He played 289 games with the Mildura Imperials, winning six best and fairest awards and four premierships.
Dale followed in his father's footsteps, playing for the Imperials' junior teams and winning awards and premierships there. In 1977, at age 17, he moved to Melbourne, attended Melbourne High School, and played in the Herald Shield series. He also played for Richmond's under-19 team, winning a Grand Final against Fitzroy.
