Laura Ingraham was born on June 19, 1963, in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Her parents are Anne Caroline and James Frederick Ingraham III. Her mother’s family came from Poland, and her father’s family is of Irish and English descent. Laura grew up in Glastonbury and went to Glastonbury High School, graduating in 1981.
After high school, she went to Dartmouth College, where she studied English literature and Russian. She graduated from Dartmouth in 1985. After college, Laura worked as a speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan's domestic policy advisor. She then went to the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a notes editor for the Virginia Law Review. She graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1991.
Career
Laura Ingraham’s career started in the late 1980s when she worked as a speechwriter for the Reagan administration. After law school, she worked as a law clerk for Judge Ralph K. Winter Jr. and then for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. She also worked as an attorney at a big law firm in New York City. In the mid-1990s, Laura began her media career.
