The popular wrestler Rey Mysterio Sr, the uncle of Rey Mysterio Jr has passed away. He was 66 and his family confirmed the news.
Rey Mysterio Sr whose real name is Miguel Angel Lopez Dias initially trained to be a boxer, but as his body grew larger and endured numerous bumps, his punching power diminished. When his trainers observed this, they suggested he explore wrestling as an alternative path.
On January 6, 1976, Misterio made his wrestling debut at a show called "Day of the Kings" (Día de los Reyes). Later, he appeared at World Championship Wrestling's Starrcade 1990 pay-per-view event, teaming with Konnan to represent Mexico in the "Pat O'Connor Memorial International Cup."
