Loudermilk
Loudermilk is a comedy-drama TV show created by Peter Farrelly and Bobby Mort. It stars Ron Livingston, Will Sasso, Laura Mennell, Anja Savcic, Mat Fraser, Toby Levins, and Mark Brandon. The show started on October 17, 2017, on the AT&T Audience Network.
The story is about Sam Loudermilk, a former music critic who is now a recovering alcoholic. He runs a support group for people struggling with addiction in Seattle. Sam is known for his blunt and often harsh comments, but he is more caring with his close friends, including his best friend and sponsor, Ben Burns, and his sponsee and roommate, Claire Wilkes.
The show had three seasons. The first two aired on Audience, and the third season was released on Amazon Prime Video in December 2020. It was available in the U.S. starting in March 2021. The show had plans for more seasons, but they were not made because the show couldn’t find a network to pay for them. As of January 2024, all three seasons can be watched on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Loudermilk Plot
The plot of Loudermilk centers around Sam Loudermilk, a former music critic and recovering alcoholic who now works as a substance abuse support group leader in Seattle. Despite his role as a counselor, Loudermilk's life is far from perfect, and he is known for his clever but harsh critiques of those around him, including his clients, friends, and random strangers.
Loudermilk's interactions are often sharp-tongued and brutally honest, reflecting his own struggles with maintaining sobriety and managing his personal life. He shows a softer side to a select few people close to him, such as his best friend and often-sober sponsor, Ben Burns, and his sponsee and unplanned roommate, Claire Wilkes. The series explores Loudermilk's attempts to navigate his personal demons while helping others do the same, all with a mix of humor and drama.
