Is Morbius 2 Confirmed?
Morbius got negative reviews and didn't do well at the box office, making a sequel uncertain. The movie's ending hints at new storylines, including possible conflicts between Michael and his former friend turned villain. Although there is no official link between "Morbius" and "Madame Web," both films were criticized negatively. As of now, there have been no updates about "Morbius 2," and due to the poor reception of the first film, a sequel has not been confirmed.
Morbius
Morbius is a 2022 superhero film about Dr. Michael Morbius, a character from Marvel Comics. Directed by Daniel Espinosa, the film stars Jared Leto as Michael, who turns into a living vampire while trying to cure a rare blood disease. Other cast members include Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.
The movie is part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Previous attempts to make a Morbius film since 1998 failed. Development for this film began in 2017, with filming starting in London in 2019 and finishing in Los Angeles. The film's release was delayed several times due to COVID-19, eventually premiering in Mexico City in March 2022 and in the United States on April 1, 2022.
Morbius Plot
At a hospital in Greece, young Michael Morbius befriends his surrogate brother Milo, sharing a desire to cure their blood illness. Years later, Michael becomes a doctor and tries to cure himself using vampire bat genes, which transforms him into a vampire.
He gains superhuman abilities but struggles with bloodlust, using artificial blood to control it. FBI agents investigate a series of murders linked to him. Milo, upset when Michael refuses to cure him, takes the cure himself and becomes a villain. Michael works on an antibody to stop Milo's rampage.
Morbius Ending
Milo kills Nicholas and mortally wounds Martine. As she dies in Michael's arms, he drinks her blood, strengthening himself. Michael summons bats to restrain Milo and injects him with the antibody, leading to Milo's death. Mourning his losses, Michael flies away, accepting his vampire identity.
In a twist, Martine is resurrected after ingesting a drop of Michael's blood. In the mid-credits scenes, Adrian Toomes appears in Michael's universe and proposes forming a team, blaming Spider-Man for his situation.
