About Kirk Franklin
Kirk Franklin is a songwriter, choir director, gospel singer, and rapper from America. He's famous for leading gospel and Christian R&B groups like The Family, God's Property, and One Nation Crew (1NC). He's won lots of awards, including 20 Grammys. People call him the "Reigning King of Urban Gospel." He's also one of the first people inducted into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame.
He is from Fort Worth, Texas. He was brought up by his aunt, Gertrude, because his mother left him when he was a baby. Gertrude collected aluminum cans to pay for Kirk's piano lessons when he was four. He was really good at playing the piano - he could even read and write music, and play by ear.
On January 20, 1996, Kirk married his longtime friend Tammy Collins. They both had a child from previous relationships when they got married. Together, they have two more children. In 2023, Kirk met his real dad, Richard Hubbard, for the first time. He also made up with his son Kerrion. This was all part of his documentary called "Father's Day: A Kirk Franklin Story."
