About Lookism

Lookism is a South Korean webcomic created by Taejun Pak. It started being published weekly on Naver Webtoon in November 2014. The story is about a high school student who can switch between two bodies: one is overweight and unattractive, while the other is fit and good-looking. A TV series based on the webcomic, made by Studio Mir, came out worldwide on Netflix in December 2022.

Lookism Plot

Park Hyung Seok, a high school student, is bullied because he's overweight. He decides to leave his school and move to Seoul for a fresh start. Just before starting at his new school, he gets a new body that's strong and good-looking. He can switch between his old and new bodies by sleeping.

Daniel Park lives with two bodies: one handsome for the day, the other his original at night. He sees how people treat him differently based on his appearance, facing discrimination for his original body but getting special treatment for the new one. By day, he becomes popular as a social media influencer, entertainment trainee, and fashion model. But at night, he returns to his old body and faces the harsh reality of his situation.

Lookism Season 1 Ending

Hyeong-Seok isn't selfish with his ability; he stands up to bullies and befriends other outcasts. Despite facing challenges, he gains trust through kindness. He forms a close bond with Duk-Hwa, who faces similar struggles and is an aspiring rapper. Duk-Hwa finds solace in music, and Hyeong-Seok supports his talent. They perform together at the school festival, showcasing their friendship and talent. Although offered a record deal, Hyeong-Seok refuses unless it includes Duk-Hwa, showing their loyalty to each other.
