About Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers are a pro football team in the Greater Los Angeles region. They play in the NFL as part of the AFC West division. Their home ground is SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, where they share the stadium with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Chargers started in Los Angeles in 1959 and played their first season in 1960. Then, they moved to San Diego in 1961 and became the San Diego Chargers. They joined the NFL in 1970 when the AFL and NFL merged. In 2017, they returned to Los Angeles after 56 years in San Diego. They played in different stadiums over the years, including the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and San Diego Stadium. They currently share SoFi Stadium with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Chargers were successful in the AFL, winning the championship in 1963 and making it to the playoffs several times. After joining the NFL, they've been to the playoffs 15 times and reached the AFC Championship game four times. Their only AFC championship win was in 1994, but they lost in Super Bowl XXIX to the San Francisco 49ers. Eight players and one coach from the Chargers are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including Lance Alworth, Fred Dean, Dan Fouts, Sid Gillman, Charlie Joiner, Ron Mix, Kellen Winslow, Junior Seau, and LaDainian Tomlinson.
