Pokemon Go

Pokémon Go is a mobile game released in 2016 where players use GPS on their phones to find, catch, train, and battle virtual Pokémon in real-world locations. It's free to play but offers in-game purchases. When it started, there were about 150 different Pokémon to find, growing to 700 by 2021.

The game got mixed reviews at first for its concept and technical issues. It became incredibly popular and profitable, downloaded over 500 million times worldwide in its first year. It's known for using augmented reality (AR) to blend Pokémon into the real world and encouraging players to move around, which also boosted foot traffic for local businesses.

Despite its success, Pokémon Go faced criticism for causing accidents and disturbances. Some governments worried about player safety and regulated its use. By 2018, it had over 147 million players each month and reached over a billion downloads by 2019, making billions in revenue by 2020.

Pokemon Go Gameplay

Pokémon Go is an augmented reality game where players explore real-world locations to find and catch virtual Pokémon. They can customize their avatars and visit PokéStops for items and Pokémon Gyms for battles. These Gyms were originally places from another game called Ingress.

Players move their avatars in the game by moving in real life. Different types of Pokémon appear in different places; for example, water-type Pokémon are near water. When players find a Pokémon, they can catch it using Poké Balls. The game is free, but players can buy items like Poké Balls and Incense. They can also evolve their Pokémon using candies and Stardust earned by catching Pokémon. Pokémon Go has special events and updates regularly with new Pokémon and features like Raid Battles and Trainer Battles. Players can team up, battle powerful Pokémon, and compete in global events.
