The highly anticipated Sims 4 Lovestruck expansion is set to be released on July 25. This update will bring significant changes to the base game, regardless of whether players purchase the expansion. One of the major additions is the introduction of polyamory through the new Romantic Boundaries system.

Players who buy the Lovestruck expansion by September 5 will receive exclusive in-game items, including Cry Me a River Eyeliner, a Herbert Heart Plushie, and a Basic Breakup Double Bed.

Lovestruck marks the 16th major expansion for The Sims 4 since its original release a decade ago. The game also features a variety of Game Packs, Stuff Packs, and other downloadable content (DLC). As of now, there are 80 pieces of DLC available on the PC game platform, Steam.

Sims 4 Lovestruck Polyamory

The latest expansion pack for The Sims 4, called Lovestruck, is centered around romance! This pack introduces a dating app, personalized turn-ons and turn-offs, various romantic relationship dynamics, and a brand-new world to explore.

Notably, the dating features won't be exclusive to the expansion; a patch released alongside the pack will add polyamory features to the base game. The official Sims blog highlights the new Romantic Boundaries system, which will allow players to customize physical and emotional exclusivity for all Sims.

This long-awaited feature responds to player requests for polyamory options, enhancing the game's realism. Historically, Sims has been highly jealous in romantic relationships since the original game.

For example, in The Sims 2, if Sim A had a crush on Sim B, they would become jealous if Sim B WooHoo’d with Sim C on the same lot, even without a direct relationship. While subsequent games have reduced this romantic jealousy, casual dating has remained challenging, and forming a Sim polycule has been nearly impossible without mods.

New Areas

The Lovestruck expansion pack introduces a new city, Ciudad Enamorada, featuring three distinct neighborhoods:

• Vista Hermosa
• Plaza Mariposa
• Nuevo Corazon

These neighborhoods offer various venues for dates, including bars, cafes, nightclubs, and open street areas. The new Singles Hangout lot trait attracts single Sims to these locations, enhancing your dating opportunities.

Dating App

With the Cupid's Corner app, you can create a dating profile, discover other Sims' turn-ons and turn-offs, and decide how to proceed. You can even become a Romance Consultant! If you hit it off with another Sim, you can declare your love at various spots in Ciudad Enamorada. The date planning system allows for unique interactions, and you can take pictures to enhance your dating profile and match with Sims who share your interests.

Romance Dynamics

There are four Romance Dynamics that can develop between Sims on dates:

1. Wholesome
   • Represents a genuine love expressed through both friendly and romantic actions.
2. Steamy
   • Focuses on physical intimacy.
3. Strained
   • Involves Sims who are romantically connected but generally unhappy and unkind to each other.
4. Unpredictable
   • Characterized by fluctuating between fighting and making up.

As your Sims interact, these dynamics will evolve, unlocking unique interactions for each type of relationship.

Attraction, Compatibility, and Satisfaction

Attraction determines how romantically matched two Sims are, influenced by their turn-ons and turn-offs. Romance Satisfaction bridges the new Attraction system with the existing romance mechanics in the base game, shaping how relationships develop over time.

New Traits

Two new traits are introduced in this expansion pack:

• Romantically Reserved: Sims take longer to form romantic connections.
• Lovebugs: Sims who adore romance and thrive on romantic interactions.
