In Greek mythology, the answer "PELOPS" refers to a significant figure, the son of Tantalus and the grandson of Zeus. Pelops' story is a complex tale involving tragedy, deceit, and eventual triumph. According to myth, Tantalus, Pelops' father, attempted to feed the gods the flesh of Pelops as a test of their omniscience.
The gods discovered the deception, punished Tantalus, and restored Pelops to life, replacing his shoulder with ivory after Demeter inadvertently ate part of his shoulder. Pelops later competed in a chariot race against King Oenomaus of Pisa for the hand of his daughter, Hippodamia.
